Geographic Area
Our name is inspired by the Mokelumne Crest to Coast Trail. This broadband aspires to address the needs and interests of members who love the Central Sierra, the Sierra Nevada foothills, the watersheds for rivers that flow to the East Bay Area, part of our great Central Valley, and to the Coast.

Projects:

  • CA Public LandsNetwork – partnership of non-governmental organizations that seeks to learn about and defend public lands and waters across the state. We participate in calls every three weeks, attend, or organize protests, and write or join letters of advocacy.
  • The CA 30×30 Plan – working to protect 30% of lands and waters by 2030 by educating members and the public, reviewing plans, and submitting comments.
  • Lobbying for Molok Luyuk (Patwin language for Condor Ridge) – Rep. Garamendi’s House Resolution 6366 to expand Berryessa Snow Mountain National Monument and enact cooperative management with Native American Tribes.
  • Lobbying for Northwest California Wilderness, Recreation & Working Forests Act: Expand 10 wilderness areas, designate 379 miles of Wild & Scenic Rivers, and more.
  • Working to reinstate environmental laws on the U.S./Mexico border.
  • Getting out to experience and learn about our local wild lands

  • Advocating for wild lands and climate change across the west: writing letters, attending lobbying days at the Capitol, attending public rallies, etc. for wild lands and climate change issues.

  • Participated in successful campaigns for climate resolutions by cities and counties
  • A coalition member of campaigns in opposition to oil trains and coal shipments through residential neighborhoods
  • Fought for roof-top solar rights
  • Co-sponsor of webinars RE Public Lands Rule revisions
  • Regional Broadwalks at Calaveras Big Trees State Park, Plumas Eureka State Park, Knights Ferry, Berryessa Snow Mountain National Monument, Bear Valley (Alpine County),  and Angels Camp
  • Lobbying in Sacramento, field offices and Washington D.C. for wildlife migration corridors and California State Parks.
  • Stewardship in Sonoma County at the Santa Rosa Lagoon.
  • Registered more than 1000 new voters in California at community colleges and high schools.
  • Participated in successful campaigns for resolutions by cities and counties in opposition to offshore oil drilling.
  • Completed pilot year of Project KNOW, a youth environmental naturalist program.
  • Participated in and tabled at the Women’s March and Science Marches in San Francisco and Oakland, 2017 and 2018.

  • Broads on the Bay, a partnership with Tuolumne River Trust and Sea Valor: an advocacy, educational and experiential event on behalf of the SF Bay Delta.
  • Paddle with the Salmon in partnership with Tuolumne River Trust: participants learned about the threats to salmonids in our river systems and the SF Bay Delta, and about serpentine soils and endemic species on a hike in the Red Hills.
  • Bears Ears National Monument, Utah – Supported “Red Road to DC” Totem Pole journey across the U.S. to support restoration of National Monument lands.
  • House of Tears Carvers – Hosted the Totem Pole carvers in defense of Sacred Sites and traveled up and down the state, across the nation, and to its delivery to Secretary Haaland in D.C.
  • A Weekend Event at Berryessa Snow Mountain Natl. Monument, April 15-17, 2022 with our partners at Tuleyome to discuss the “Berryessa Snow Mountain National Monument Expansion Act” (H.R.6366)
  • Gathering of the Eagles as guests of House of Tears Carvers in honor of Master Carver Jewell James and Snake River to Salish Sea Spirit of the Waters totem pole journey.
  • Attendance and participation in national Broadwalks
