Kristy Weber
Kristy Weber’s interest in environmental issues, primarily related to the West, began as a child camping in the National Parks every summer. She led backpacking, whitewater canoeing, and biking trips in New Hampshire, Maine, and Nova Scotia in the late 1980s, and has been on multiple wilderness adventures in the Minnesota Boundary Waters and Alaska. As a fierce advocate for women, Kristy has dedicated much of her career as an orthopaedic surgeon to their empowerment. She currently works as an orthopaedic oncology surgeon at the University of Pennsylvania, and in 2019 served as the first and only woman president of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS).
