Short Description of Activity
Robyn presented to the Ouray BOCC. She reviewed the reasons 5 landscapes in Ouray County have been proposed as possessing wilderness character in the coalition-crafted Community Conservation Proposal to the GMUG Forest Planning Team. Robyn also answered commissioners’ questions regarding mining and water rights in the parcels, addressed other questions and offered a few thoughts regarding some general concerns with the overall GMUG Working Draft.
Reflection/Evaluation
Presentation went great. For the first time (having addressed the Commissioners 3 times in 8 months!!) the BOCC expressed “general support” for the proposed 5 landscapes with some concerns and conditions related to avalanche mitigation and helitrax operations. More work for Robyn to research. The BOCC also requested that I draft some language for their comment letter – due absolutely no later than July 16 (and preferably before.)
