Short Description of Activity
Letter from Terri Martin from SUWA to Brenda McKenna, Rep. Haaland’s field rep.
I am working with a number of people in Representative Haaland’s district who would like to set up a meeting with you to ask her about cosponsoring America’s Red Rock Wilderness Act. This bill calls for the protection of 8.7 million acres of Bureau of Land Management public land in Utah as wilderness. The area includes most of Bears Ears National Monument as it was originally proposed by the Tribes and proclaimed by President Obama.
Reflection/Evaluation
Reply from Brenda McKenna –
It was our pleasure to meet with you and your alliance members!
I have forwarded a summary of our meeting today with the resolution, pamphlet, and group letter to our District Director, Scott Forrester.
I saw Senator Durbin’s floor speech for the legislation in your website.
Very impressive.
Sincerely
Brenda
Goal was to request that representative Haaland be an original sponsor, versus a cosponsor of America’s Redrock Wilderness Act, since Utah legislators certainly won’t do it. Still haven’t heard whether or not she has agreed to our ask.
