Key Partners: Columbine RD
Landscape/area: Weminuche Wilderness (496972 acres)
Measurable Outcomes
Outcome 1: Trail built/cleared (01 mile(s))
Outcome 2: Hiked (4 mile(s))
Short Description of Activity
cut out 4 trees and found chainsaw use – 22 trees were cut out with chainsaw between June 15 and June 24, likely within the previous 2 days. We also built two dams of native materials and cut out a log that was blocking the stream from running in its original course. This reduced the amount of water flowing down the trail at South Burnt Timber Creek.
Reflection/Evaluation
We hoped to clear the trail to the Burnt Timber Creek crossing. That goal was accomplished. Five SSJ Broads participated and had a good time. We were discouraged and angry that chainsaws had been used, and were not able to find out who did it.
