Short Description of Activity
Micky, Laurie Kerr, Rynda, Amy Stuart, Pam Conley and I joined a conference call with two staff from the Fish Passage Center. FPC staff person Michele Dehart has worked for the Center since the ’80’s. She and other staff have conducted many studies on how to improve fish passage through the lower Snake R. Dams, and the bottom line is that NONE of the proposed solutions have worked. She strongly recommended we put pressure on Govs. Kate Brown and Jay Inslee to not support a proposed recommendation being developed behind closed doors between now and when a new EIS will be released in 2020. She also suggested we meet with ODFW and press them to support a dam breach alternative. Pam Conley wrote up good notes from the call.
Reflection/Evaluation
Michele Dehart from Fish Passage Center has a wealth of knowledge about management of the 4 LSRDs that she’s readily willing to share with us. She’s a fantastic resource not just for technical information but also for her political insights into this issue.
