Short Description of Activity
Chandra LeGue, an Oregon Wild employee, spent the past year hiking Oregon’s ancient forests and wrote a book about what she found on these hikes. She encountered dripping coastal forests, high desert groves of massive ponderosa pine and lush conifer forests in the high Cascades. The guide explains what makes ancient forests so unique as well as what types exists in Oregon, where they are, who manages them, why so few still survive and what threats they face. The event was at the Portland Patagonia store, a grantor for the the Great Old Broads.
Reflection/Evaluation
The goal was to get Broads together to support Chandra’s effort and let them know about this new old growth hiking book.
