Short Description of Activity
We organized a “hike with a purpose” and invited the U.S. Forest Service to join us. The 4-mile round trip hike through Bues Canyon is located on the east bench of Ogden and is on U.S. Forest Service property. It’s a lovely trail that follows Bues Creek and eventually ends at the top of Mt. Ogden. Our hike did not go that high. We chose this trail since it faces new threats with the growing population along the Wasatch front and it’s limited ability to handle added traffic.
Reflection/Evaluation
We tripled the number of hikers we expected and wildly exceeded out expectations. It was a surprise to be joined by such high ranking forest service personnel and both sides learned from each other. One of the take-a-ways was information about an Adopt a Hike program in our area that we will take advantage of for our stewardship program.
