Short Description of Activity
This meeting was to thank Senator Heinrich (through his Albuquerque office staff member, Mike Sullivan) for the senator’s long-time advocacy for protecting Utah’s red rock wildlands and for being a loyal cosponsor of America’s Red Rock Wilderness Act, to encourage him to continue, and to explain how his support of ARRWA helped make it possible to improve the Emery County Public Land Management Act so that it would be passed.
Reflection/Evaluation
We met beforehand in an Albuquerque coffee shop to plan our strategy and it worked. A note from the staff member we met with thanked us for a “well organized” meeting, even though it went on a bit longer than he anticipated. Maps were used to show how the bill was significantly improved, especially in terms of adding key landscape areas.
