Key Issue: Wilderness and Monuments
Activity Type: Stewardship (monitoring, sampling, planting, etc.)
Landscape/area: South San Juan Wilderness (160999 acres)
Measurable Outcomes
Outcome 1: Trail built/cleared (2 mile(s))
Outcome 2: Hiked (16 mile(s))
Short Description of Activity
We cut out 27 trees, camped at the trailhead, saw a red fox there.
Reflection/Evaluation
The goal was to finish clearing the trail to the Wilderness Boundary on the ridge between East Fork and Fawn Gulch. We got all but the last 0.3 miles of trail cleared. The upper 0.3 miles of the trail are overgrown and have about 30 trees across the route. Further work would require setting up a dry camp on the ridge. It is better to let the trail disappear.
