Attended a talk at Oak Flat by geologist Dr. Steven Emerman regarding fatal problems with Rio Tinto’s Oak Flat mine plan.
Reflection/Evaluation
I was gathering as much information as possible to comment on the USFS draft environmental impact statement on Rio Tinto’s Resolution Copper Mine proposal. Dr. Emerman’s information is beyond alarming, painting a picture of tailing volumes and pond failures larger than any yet seen in the world. The Arizona Broads will be submitting an extensive comment. I have also contacted local media in the hope that they will pick up the story.
