Landscape/area: BLM CO – Uncompahgre Field Office

Measurable Outcomes

Outcome 1: Advocacy calls/emails/letters (4 letters to Governor Polis)

Short Description of Activity

Composed letters to Colorado Governor Polis encouraging him to use his authority via the Governor’s consistency review process to intervene regarding the final EIS of the BLM Uncompahgre Field Office Resource Management Plan which did not resemble the Draft EIS released to the public three years prior.

Reflection/Evaluation

Frustrating to have to ask the governor to use this authority as the BLM’s final RMP was so grossly inferior to the DEIS, opened over 95% of the Uncompaghre Field Office to potential oil and gas lease sales, eliminated the LWCs, ACECs etc. Dismal. The Governor’s response fell short of our expectation though he did raise many inconsistencies between the final RMP and CO laws and policies.
