Short Description of Activity
This activity report reflects NSJBB’s entire summer’s USFS solitude monitoring for 5 different trails – 4 in the Uncompahgre Wilderness and 1 in Mt Sneffels Wilderness. This is our third season of 5 summers to which we have committed.
Reflection/Evaluation
Very successful monitoring season with 15 different people monitoring with approx half of those accompanying Broads. 25 monitors total with some of those doing repeat surveys. Some are first time monitors!! Unfortunately, we did not meet our expectation for weekend monitoring on two trails – one did not follow protocol, the other was not monitored on a weekend. We have a new stewardship coordinator, so it’s a learning curve.
