Short Description of Activity
One member samples 2 sites each month (typically first week of the month) as part of our contribution to the statewide River Watch monitoring. One site is on the Uncompahgre River just below the the dam of the Ridgway Reservoir; the second site is on Cow Creek just above the confluence with the Uncompahgre. Note these sites are just two along the Uncompahgre drainage between Red Mountain Pass and the confluence of Cow Creek with the Uncompahgre. (approximately 25 miles of river.) Our member performs some of the tests -alkalinity, pH and hardness Samples are sent to Denver for the remainder of tests including metals This activity reports covers hours for 5 months of sampling – June through October.
Reflection/Evaluation
Grateful to our member’s contribution to this program and excited about her enthusiasm for this project – something she engages in and has a sense of ownership/participation in something bigger than our chapter.
