Short Description of Activity
Broads and Bros from Boise and Moscow, ID and Bend, OR attended the annual Snake River Flotilla event in Lewiston, Id. The event was not as big as last year, but much more meaningful because of the presence and participation of members of the Nimipuu Nation. On Saturday morning the Nimipuu launched six hand-carved canoes upstream of the campground. Approximately 30 participants paddled upstream to meet and encircled the Nimipuu as they gave short speeches about the significance of the event. That evening there were several speakers including a Nimipuu elder, and then we watched the movie Dammed to Extinction. I’m so glad I made the 8 hr drive to attend this amazing event.
Reflection/Evaluation
I think it was very important the the Great Old Broads had a highly visible presence at this event. We had multiple banners and signs up at our campsites, and tabled with other environmental advocacy groups Saturday afternoon thanks to Patricia Jessup.
