Short Description of Activity
Two Broads met with USFS Ouray District Rec staff – Julie Jackson (Rec specialist/supervisor on the Job since August 2019) and Krisann Wist (Trails and Wilderness on the District for nearly two decades) to share 2019 Wilderness Solitude Monitoring data. We also introduced our participation in the Bighorn Sheep Citizen Science project coordinated by Mountain Studies Institute and asked about collaborating with the Ouray District re: placement of signage to educate trail users about the project.
Reflection/Evaluation
Great meeting! They appreciate all we do to monitor wilderness for solitude (5 trails) and Julie was quite receptive to the idea of posting signs re: the Bighorn Sheep Citizen Science though she needs to inventory the district’s signs and wants us to confer with CPW about best locations.
