Short Description of Activity
4 Broads met with our Republican Congresswoman’s staffer, Pam Peiper, about breaching the dams on the LSR. We talked about our organization. Then talked about our personal experiences with fishing, farming, and orca sightings. Then we talked about recovery of species and how that had been successful on the Elwa. She was not aware that the pro-breaching community was supporting the breaching on the LSR only; she thought it was both the Columbia and LSR dams they wanted breached. We educated her on the issues and we were all very well versed on the issue. She had attended the Stakeholders meeting the week prior so she was familiar with the different perspectives.
Reflection/Evaluation
The meeting went well and I was surprised that we got it. She was very attentive and even asked for some information in writing. I provided several copies of the half-sheet info. We even got a picture of her with us. See below.
