Short Description of Activity

The visitors have all come the same afternoon on my watch! I have never counted such high numbers during my time! I talked and talked and talked about the restoration project/dams/flood plain/watershed/berms/salmon/trees/climate change/trails/parking lot/bathrooms/closures. If this popularity of the refuge continues, we will NEED more trails because it seemed today was just one long line of group after group walking the trail, particularly the view of the restoration/planting site. I picked up trash in the restrooms. I noted a few feathered friends including red-winged blackbirds, GBH, harrier, tundra swans, and buffleheads.

Reflection/Evaluation

I am continually amazed by what I am learning through my classes and at the refuge. I really enjoy sharing the information with the public and looking forward to my continued training at the refuge as well as the watershed class. The public is very eager to listen and learn from my knowledge, too. I didn’t connect too many folks with nature today as I talked mostly about the restoration project and I always connected it back to climate change.
