Short Description of Activity

Every month we alternate between venues in Corvallis and Eugene to gather around an issue and write postcards. For this one we started out sharing late breaking news of the day – that is a historic agreement between conservation groups and timber companies – as a first step in updating Oregon’s outdated deeply, flawed Oregon’s Forest Practices Act. They’ve agreed to stand down from their divisive ballot measure fight over Oregon’s logging rules and start a mediated process to develop a conservation blueprint. Our issue that we wrote postcards to Rep DeFazio and Gov Brown about however was to encourage them to support breaching the 4 lower Snake River dams. This was a follow up to our showing last week of Dammed to Extinction.

Reflection/Evaluation

We tried a new venue that worked well and have reserved it for our next Corvallis Advocacy night in April. We attracted a few new Broads and as a result had one new sign-up for the Let the Forest Be with You Broadwalk. We also promoted March 4 the Dams and began putting together a plan to participate as a Broadband
