Short Description of Activity
3 meetings of Cascade Volcano Broadband SW Washington Book study group. Dates and times include: February 3rd-6 participants, Feb 17-4 participants and March 2-5 participants. We have been reading and studying the issues surrounding protection of salmon both worldwide, Eastern Russia and PNW USA. Book is Sronghold: One Man’s Quest to save the Wild Salmon by Tucker Malarkey. It describes the life and efforts of Guido Rahr, a native Oregonian, who’s had the passion for saving the wild salmon and worked internationally towards this goal. The book includes the science behind the issue of how salmon impacts the health/ecology of waterways/flora and vice versa.
Reflection/Evaluation
We advertised among our broadband and had 7 broads sign up, but some had schedule conflicts. We’ve been really learning a lot, including material relevant to current education/advocacy of saving salmon in SW Washington/Oregon/Idaho. We’ve had stimulating discussions on application to our education/advocacy activities.
