Short Description of Activity
Both meetings were informational, and we met a new district ranger in March, after the current DR announced his leaving his job in the January meeting. We also learned about several required FS protocols for prioritizing projects and the beginning of scoping for a new use fee schedule in order to keep the day use campgrounds in better condition.
Reflection/Evaluation
Both meetings were full of new information and I was able to reinforce contacts with various collaborative members, despite severe anxiety over the Mexico Spotted Owl injunction with Wild Earth Guardians. It was also useful to see how few district projects are likely to get funding in the next year or two, and how to find matching funds in order to raise the priority of a given project. I did meet the ranchers who hav the permit for Little Water Canyon, and they agreed to work with the Friends of Little Water Canyon on ways to protect the spring area and riparian habitat.
