Short Description of Activity
Meeting to discuss next steps to find, continue funding for the CFLRP. The proposal to extend the funding for 3-4 more years was not forwarded to the Washington Office, so the group will have to find alternative sources of funding to finish the restoration work and to do the monitoring needed to see if the project has had the intended effects.
Reflection/Evaluation
It is pretty discouraging that the funding didn’t get extended – the federal program’s funding dropped from a proposed $80 million to about $3 million, by the time all the exceptions and existing extensions were deducted. Why start something and then be too cheap to finish it successfully. It has to do with a new emphasis on economic output, instead of restoration and the outcome of a fire resilient forest.
