Activity Type: Advocacy (rallies, lobbying, meeting decision makers, letters/calls/emails)
Key Partners: Cascade Volcanos and Palouse Broadbands
Short Description of Activity
Micky Ryan, Debra Ellers, Borg Hendrickson, Amy Stuart, Rynda Clark, Julie Weikel, and myself assisted in writing and editing an 82-page letter to the Corps of Engineers RE the Columbia River System Operation DEIS that was released February 28, 2020. Our comments were substantive and factual with Debra writing about orcas, Amy writing about fish, and Borg writing about energy and economics. Unfortunately we ran into significant hurdles submitting our comments electronically as well as by hand, which we’ve documented in letters to our elected officials.
Reflection/Evaluation
This group effort went really well. Micky took the lead organizing the comment writers (Debra, Amy and Borg) and editors (Rynda and myself). in the end Borg ended up doing the final edit of the entire document which went really well. Micky had the job of hand delivering the document to an office with no people other than security guards present, and Amy had the job of breaking the document into 5 parts that could be electronically submitted separately because of the Corps’ website limitations. WHEW!
Hours shown below are for COBB participants and Borg. Micky will submit a separate Activity report for her and Debra’s hours.
