II. ADVOCACY
a. Salmon/Snake River Dams Micky
Monday was deadline on DEIS comments- we had a great commenting workshop with a couple dozen people, and heard from a dozen people who commented.
Micky asked that people contact her if they would like to help revise the National office website regarding breaching of Snake River dams
Comparative Survival Study Annual Meeting on GoToMeeting on Friday April 17
Let Micky know if you would like to help contact congresspeople in both Oregon and Washington about protecting the salmon. Also send copies of your comments to your senators and representatives.
b. Pumice Plain Susan
Last week, the forest service issued environmental assessment, eight broads did comment so gives them standing to object. The assessment gives permission to build a road across pumice plain.
Susan will be in zoom meeting next week to get comments together and then we will get that info to those eligible to object.
c. Jordan Cove Felice
We had webinar and it is recorded for use. First hour is great for intro. See it at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6RHbI3Oh3pQ
Bad FERC decision that same day. But FERC said that Pembina has to have all permits. Brown, Merkley, Wyden all came out against.
Next is eminent domain litigation and we will hear more soon.
d. Elliott State Forest Micky
Tomorrow’s event- Jane, Judy will listen in
e. Gorge Commission Nutter Mine Judy
There is a quarry in the scenic area and Judy listened into Gorge Commission meeting. No decision- they are avoiding litigation. Judy will keep up on it.
f. Chehalis River Dam Laurie mentioned that there is a terrible dam proposal for flood control at the headwaters of the Chehalis River which is the longest undammed salmon river in Washington. It is also a food source for SRKW and would destroy spawning habitat, wilderness values, and tribal cultural sites. The Wash Dept of Ecology has issued a DEIS. Written comments can be submitted through May 27. April 21 DOE is hosting a public meeting from 5pm – 8:30pm which is initially educational and will allow time for comments and discussion following. The Corps will do a federal review in the fall.
April 21 online meeting by Department of Ecology – can comment

Reflection/Evaluation
It did not go well. Laurie was set to facilitate the meeting; however, her internet was unstable and she couldn’t get good audio and they could not hear her either. Luckly, Judy stepped up and facilitated the meeting. The zoom meeting number was an incorrect number and folks could not get on the call. So Felice sent out another number which was the correct one. The members were great but I wanted them to talk with one another and this was never set up. As I only had access to the chat bar I could not communicate this to the facilitator. I will try again next time and see if connection to a ethernet cable will give me better audio. This has never been the case before, so I assume it is because of the overuse of the internet.
