Short Description of Activity
Monthly meeting of the Working Group of the Deschutes Basin Water Collaborative (DBWC), and a separate “special meeting” with representatives of organizations with “instream interests” (including Water Watch, Coalition for the Deschutes, Central OR LandWatch, Trout Unlimited, the Deschutes River Conservancy, and the Great Old Broads).
Reflection/Evaluation
The DBWC Working Group includes representatives from Tribal, Federal, State, County and City agencies, as well as environmental organizations (some of which are listed above). These meetings have not been super productive because we’ve spent way too much time (in my opinion) providing comments on a “Charter” for this group. There is also a DBWC Planning Team that consists of various groups representing environmental and instream interests (12), agricultural interests (8), community / drinking water interests (7), agencies/ regulatory interests (11), and broad/general interests (9). This group meets every other month and has not done much yet except provide comments on the DBWC’s charter. I find this whole process important but quite tedious. We’ll see how the DBWC Working Group meeting on April 27th goes.
