Short Description of Activity
As part of WALTS, I did a 1:1 call with Mary Fleishman, co-leader of the Bitterbrush Broadband in Oregon. We discussed what she loved about being a Broadband leader, the many lessons she has learned as well as resources she uses. The conversation was concise and we got to the heart of the questions quickly. It was wonderful talking to a passionate broad with lots of experience.
Reflection/Evaluation
We covered lots in our brief call. A few take-a-ways included the understanding that a petition sent to a congressional leader counts as just one vote, where a letter writing campaign can be a more valuable tool. We also talked about having quarterly meetings on the road, surveys, utilizing existing conservation groups to recruit new members and forming a leadership team. It was a great call!
