Interview with Steph Smith from Silver City, NM. Aldo’s Silver City Broadband
Reflection/Evaluation
i had a great conversation with Steph. She moved to Silver City 15 years ago from Virginia. She heard about Great Old Broads but resisted joining because didn’t want to be called a GOB. She wasn’t old.
Steph ended up being a co-leader and then taking over as the broadband leader after Denise(?) stepped down.
The best part of being a broad is working with women, nature and developing trusted friendships over many years.
They have a core group that makes the decisions,Stewardship,Advocacy, etc. There is a broader group that takes on writing letters to congressional leaders, etc.
The key group goes to GIla Hot Springs for a retreat once a year. “We need to be out in nature now more than ever with whats going on in world”
I’m actually going to talk to her again this evening.
