Key Issue: Public Lands Health & Protection
Activity Type: Advocacy (rallies, lobbying, meeting decision makers, letters/calls/emails)
Measurable Outcomes
Outcome 1: Advocacy actions (15 emails)
Short Description of Activity
Chandra led the discussion. We talked about the public being locked out of public lands during the pandemic yet logging, mining, gas and oil extraction continues. Because Wyden, Merkely and Defazio have been advocating for protections through stays of these activities we encouraged participants to thank them. We also talked about wrting Kate Brown about banning aerial spraying and slash burning during the pandemic.
Reflection/Evaluation
We were pleased with the number of participants and how well it all went. Encouraging everyone to bring a beverage and have a toast after brief introductions was interestingly bonding and sweet and encouraged inclusivity. We asked folks to email me about who and what they emailed as a result of our discussion. I heard only from three who ech sent 4 messages. Not sure how to better quantify this without having actual post cards and letters to mail in my hand.
