Measurable Outcomes
Outcome 1: Clean-up (51 trash bags)
Short Description of Activity
Thirty-six of you reported back to me that you were out picking up trash and accumulated at least 51 bags of plastic, beer cans, bottles, a Seagram’s bottle lodged in a tree (what??), disinfecting wipes (Kathy calls this a “sign of the times”), and other strange detritus. WHALES women, along with drafted friends/spouses, worked more than 68 hours on Earth Day. Laura reports that she and her husband carry a trash bag on every daily walk. My trashy analysis is that folks who drink the least expensive drinks are the most likely to toss them from their cars along the roads; don’t really know how to draw an earth-shaking inference from that. Julie filled 6 large bags near Hatch’s Corner and reports that she sees it “trashed” again. Suggestions to discourage this behavior are welcome.
Reflection/Evaluation
