Short Description of Activity
SEA and FONSI published April 15, 2020. Objection letter (this is the second one, first filed 1/22/20) filed in a timely manner this date (May 28, 2020). In addition to preparing the letter hours include a field trip to the mine which is south of Prescott near Wilhoit – off-road. Jenny and fellow Broad Dianne Hicks made the trip on Saturday, May 9. Last inspection was Spring 2017 with Scoping. Ergo 10 hours for two of us – did not include splashing in the creek and picnicking plus 4 hours letter writing by Jenny (at least).
Reflection/Evaluation
The mine area is historic – several piles of tailings left from active mining in past years. It is a popular recreation area with locals – when the Hassayampa River has water from recent rains, there are two swimming holes and a waterfall – a beautiful flowing river and people camp, ride ATV’s, four wheel drive, explore, bird watch, etc. etc. Most of these people live in the nearby community of Wilhoit. Letter sent to you under separate cover. SEA and FONSI available online under SOPA Prescott NF. See my FaceBook page May 9th for pictures.
