Short Description of Activity
Last evening Jenny attended a ZOOM meeting and Webinar in the pre-scoping status for stakeholders re two proposed Fish Barriers on the Upper Verde River. The project is meant to remove non-native fish species from the Upper Verde River. Sierra Club and Broads will comment on this proposed project which would build two fish barrier dans on the Upper Verde River. Our concerns include construction issues, opening up the river to unwanted recreation by driving into the dam building areas, and future use of chemicals to remove the non-native fish species. Reflection/Evaluation
They – Fish and Wildlife, AZ Game and Fish, Prescott National Forest, Bureau of Reclamation – are holding pre-scoping meetings for stakeholders in light of the current administrations attempts to shorten the NEPA process. This will be an ongoing issue for some time.
