Short Description of Activity
Book Study group-the Story of More by Hope Jahren. About 10 participants attended this biweekly 4 session series via zoom. It was a very stimulating discussion of the history and roots of our population growth, escalating consumerism, personal lifestyle and impact on national and international hunger, climate change, and myriad other environmental impacts. The last chapter involved looking at our own personal values and making a specific action plan.
Reflection/Evaluation
Some felt the author had biases and inadequately researched sections. although a scientist, she was dismissive of the full value of planting trees as solution. Still others thought it was thought provoking and a good overview. The important thing is we exchanged ideas, resources and agreed to stay in touch.
