Reflection/Evaluation
I echo John that we were a powerhouse team for the objection resolution meeting on Wednesday. It only happened by accident, but placing Christine at the end of the agenda to speak poetically about the beauty of the Pumice Plain and the “heartbreaking” EA put the perfect wrap on the discussion. I hope that Eric Veach at least has been given things to think about, coming into this process with, hopefully, a more open mind and less “ownership” of the preferred alternative.)
Lisa Northrup’s closing statement that “additional study may not result in any different decision” told me that the written response to our objections will be long on the recitation of regulations and short on meaningful substance. I suspect they have detailed Michelle back to the GPNF to write it. I anticipate that Lisa will tell the GP to dig in their heels in support of their NEPA documents, no matter how inadequate, so they can move forward on the timeline to build the road.
We suspect that the road will go forward but we await their decision.
