Key Partners: Cascadia Wildlands
Landscape/area: BLM OR – Cascades Field Office (800 acres)
Short Description of Activity
We visited a proposed timber sale on BLM land near Green Peter reservoir in the Cascades. We measured several trees for DBH, noted riparian areas, vegetation and wildlife sign. We learned how to use the Avenza mapping system to mark specific areas and the characteristics we noted to include in a data base.
Reflection/Evaluation
This is the second outing with Cascadia Wildlands and with a different group of Broads. Our goal is to get as many Broads out for this training as we can in small groups during the pandemic so that we learn enough to be considtent contributors to the documentation needed to fight irresponsible and uneccessary timber harvests. We also want to make this a part of of a comprehensive CES program for our Broadband and hopefully other groups.
