Short Description of Activity
Kathleen Worley and Laurie Kerr hiked up to Mt Defiance Trail and then to Bear Lake to monitor solitude in Zone 16 of Mark O Hatfield Wilderness.
Reflection/Evaluation
We noted a total of 8 hikers with 2 dogs. One low flying aircraft was heard overhead. We also observed one occupied dispersed campsite with a score of 0 for occupied sites within sight or sound.
We had difficulty finding the trail as it is incorrectly numbered on the map. We also had an adventure with the poor road conditions leading up to the trail. It made for one fantastic adventure with a great meal at Oak Street Pub in Hood River afterward.
