Short Description of Activity
This was our second book club on Zoom meeting. Desert Cabal by Amy Irvine was discussed and lead by Broads member Amy Brunvand, academic librarian at the University of Utah. Nine members were there.
Reflection/Evaluation
There were two new Broads Read attendees, didn’t attend the first one. It was a rich conversation and well led by Amy who put in I don’t know how many hours preparing. I felt the goal of being with each other in our Zoom world, sharing common values and concerns, getting to know each other a bit better was definitely achieved. We had tried previously to hold it in August, but Zoom glitches taking 45 minutes nearly to correct had us finally say “uncle” and reschedule for Sept. 22. Amy was most resilient as was Barbara in reissuing information about the change and upcoming activity. I think I personally learned that sending a notice to all members two days before the event with the Zoom link instead of asking folk to send request to me for Zoom link worked better.
