Short Description of Activity
Relational meetings – WALTS training –
Scenario one – Emily as Broadband leader
Scenario two – Patience as Broadband leader.
Reflection/Evaluation
goal was to practice relational meetings to learn how to use your public narrative to develop relationships, recruit and retain members and constituents.
The first scenario seemed difficult because the scenario/background was not our legitimate narrative. The first debrief was informative with each of us suggesting how we could have approach differently and what questions we may have asked. The common ground seemed assumed in the first narrative, and I felt the conversation was more forced. We learned more about developing relationships when we started talking our real narratives. (we went off scenarios for a few minutes).
We agreed to change the second scenario to reflect Emily moving to join the Wild Watershed Broads in Colorado Springs. The second relational meeting conversation flowed more easily due to what we learned from the first. Our passions, interest, and common ground showed in our voices, our interest was genuine. The second debriefing brought out our concerns of being a new Broadband leaders, with a promise to keep the conversation going and support one another in our new broadband leader roles.
I believe the goal/objective was met, however, we both felt we will need to develop this skill.
