Key Issue: Public Lands Health & Protection
Activity Type: Trainings (WALTS, CAREs/GLOWs, research, conferences, workshops, etc.)
Short Description of Activity
Put on by Utah State University- Dr. Jordan Smith; Glacier Nat’l Park- Jeff Mow; USFS- Michiko Marten; America State Parks- Lewis Ledford; USU- Dr. Chris Mong. Talked about effects of climate change (Nat’l Parks are warming at twice rate as US as a whole) and effects C19 has had on usage. There has been a dramatic change in demographics of users of public lands, folks who have never visited national parks before referred to by all as ‘new audience’. Subsequent problems/issues were discussed and some of what they are all trying to do to mitigate it. Barbara and Di participated.
Reflection/Evaluation
Best webinar Di has participated in. The goal of ‘education’ was definitely met with resources to pursue and ideas generated for how we can be involved since our BB has declared 2021 the year of the forest.
