Short Description of Activity
Both calls were designed to complete the template for trails and recreational opportunities for the local residents and the tourist industry. Since the mines closed in Cibola County, the residents have been trying to develop the Zuni Mountains trail systems, the Continental Divide trail, and the Mt Taylor recreation area. The town and county are committed to this project and to finding further funding for this kind of community development.
Reflection/Evaluation
Possible sources of funding are the GAOA, SCORP, LWCF, NW COG, city, county and FS finding and matching and in-kind contributions. The group is working diligently and with purpose to make the many projects discussed happen. I hope they can be successsful because the economy of the area is hideously depressed, and the surrounding public lands are beautiful and underused. I contributed as much as I could, considering I don’t make the area my primary residence. However, I do want to represent the interests of friends in the Zuni Mt area.It took a couple of hours or more to read and make suggestions for all the documents.
