Short Description of Activity
We continue to advocate for the 5 landscapes within Ouray County recommended in the Community Conservation Proposal. Ongoing GMUG related activities include submission of two LTEs to complement the paid ads in the Ouray Plaindealer, documentation and photography for Wild & Scenic eligibility, calls and correspondence with Ouray County Commissioners, partner organizations, several archeologists and GJ Broads. A new emphasis on holding the GMUG team accountable for a robust and authentic Tribal Consulation. New outreach to tribal leaders and tribal cultural preservation staff. Coalition welcome letter to new GMUG Renewable Resources Staff Officer Sean Ferrell.
Reflection/Evaluation
Great news: The Ouray Board of County Commissioners unanimously supports recommendation for addition of the Bear Creek watershed to the Uncompahgre Wilderness in the GMUG Forest Plan. Full engagement in all aspects of our coalition advocacy going well. Outreach to Tribes is slowly progressing. GMUG not particularly receptive to our advocacy for robust Tribal Consultation. A member leader has recently assumed the role of representing NSJBB in the Wild and Scenic coalition work
