Short Description of Activity
Emails letters to ask members of the Senate Rules Committee to Vote Yes, Do Pass on SJR 3, the proposed NM Environmental Rights Act. The letter also let these committee members know that the bill had not yet been scheduled for a hearing and that we hope to see the bill go through both committees of the Senate and House and pass on the floor so that this constitutional amendment can go to the people of New Mexico for a vote in 2022.
Reflection/Evaluation
The objective was met with a Do Pass vote by the Committee in February. However, it was stalled in the Judiciary Committee and never came to a vote by that committee and disappointingly never made it to the House. We will try again in ’22, which is an even shorter session and will only go to committees if the governor accepts it to the agenda.
