Short Description of Activity

Aldo’s GOBs met to discuss our monitoring priorities, given Forest Service input. We also received Forest Service help in putting a new survey app /program and maps on our phones. Three Broads took a field trip/ hike from Cosmic Campground down to the San Francisco River, where we discovered cattle in excluded areas within two allotments. This was reported to the associated Ranger District staff. Time was also spent in trying to coordinate with FS personnel in three ranger districts and district headquarters.

Reflection/Evaluation

We discovered that our efforts (and discoveries) in the Gila Bird Area have made it a very high priority for the Forest Service. We also found cows in two allotments we hadn’t monitored before. Relationships with FS personnel are expanding and improving.
