Short Description of Activity
We cut out 5 trees in the northern portion of Burnt Timber Trail. We hiked in from Horse Park, at the end of the Burnt Timber Road, off of Missionary Ridge Road. Cloudy weather, cool temps and no rain. Anne Maleady taught 10 Colvig Silver Camp kids and counselors about crosscut saws while we cut out and moved a tree.
Reflection/Evaluation
It is 4 miles along the closed road, slightly downhill to the Burnt Timber Trail from Horse Park. A long day – 9 hours to do the hike and cut out 5 trees. There is still one mile of trail to cut out at North end. We saw two flocks of sheep in the Burnt Timber drainage in open meadows west of the trail.
