Key Issue: Public Lands Health & Protection
Activity Type: Stewardship (monitoring, sampling, planting, etc.)
Key Partners: BLM
Landscape/area: Adobe Badlands WSA (10425 acres)
Measurable Outcomes
Outcome 1: Trail/land monitored (2 Other)
Short Description of Activity
Went to site on two dates and monitored conditions of land and misuse. Collected a small bag of trash each time. There is evidence that 4 wheelers and bikes are being used but no new trash left. It appears those that went there to practice shoot are not using it at this time and that those individuals are primarily responsible for the small trash that has been left over many years, no new shell casings, fast food bags, cigarettes or broken bottles etc. Picked up broken glass and shell casings from prior times. No new large items, i.e furniture or bags of trash.
Reflection/Evaluation
BLM appears to have done a little more work on placing poles to prevent 4 wheelers from entering the area easily. Perhaps keeping the area cleaned is impacting those that use the area not to trash it as readily.
