Reflection/Evaluation
One female rancher from NE NM had turned a large part of the ranch into a wild bird sanctuary. She talked about ecosystem connectivity. All of the ranchers expressed a love for land and functioning ecosystems.
On the Valle de Oro NWR webinar, this was mainly about their upcoming plans for their new visitor center and the need to build partnerships in the local community. They talked about fundraising and outreach. This prospect doesn’t look promising at this time but perhaps when the visitor center is finished and a full plan for the wildlife refuge is established. They are in the early planning stages and were seeking volunteers mainly for their gift shop.
