Key Issue: Multiple apply
Activity Type: Relationship Building with non-white and/or frontline communities (relational meetings, attending events, community support, etc.)
Key Partners: NM Environmental Law Center, Southwest Organizing Project; Indivisible Nob Hill and Beyond Plastics.org; Hopi Cultural Preservation Resource Advisory
Short Description of Activity
1. Our Nob Hill Indivisible presentation on 5/17 was about how NM could take action on plastic waste
2. Webinar by SWOP and NMELC re ongoing struggle to protect water for South Valley farmers and acequia owners. Viewers were encouraged to write the County Commission with written commends and to submit comments for a hearing on June 2. They talked about water compact lawsuits and environmental justice – a perfect place for the NM Green Amendment to be effective. The development land is zoned for agriculture, not community development.
3. Hopi knowledge of the Chaco Canyon resource, the importance of corn and importance of oral history knowledge
Reflection/Evaluation
1. My notes were hard to decipher.
2. Great discussion with questions and answers
3. Heart wrenching. Song and dance from the ancient peoples in the walls of Chaco. A woman’s face in the T-shaped doors; circularity of kivas represents the universe.
I sent word out to the Broadband about these activities but did not hear feedback from anyone
