Short Description of Activity
NSJBB and ROCC co-hosted and attended an informational webinar and letter writing workshop regarding three units recommended for addition to the Uncompahgre Wilderness in the Gunnison Public Lands Initiative gunnisonpubliclands.org
We were asked by Senator Bennet (by way of GPLI) to garner letters of support for these additions from Ridgway Town Council and Ouray County Board of County Commissioners since the landscapes are often accessed from Ouray County and form our skyline even though the acreage lies within Gunnison County. NSJBB was also invited to write a letter of endorsement to Senator Bennet
Reflection/Evaluation
Webinar was informative. Following personal communications with elected officials, draft letters of support for these GPLI units were submitted to Ridgway Council and Ouray BOCC. The meetings have not yet been held where these elected bodies will vote on their support. We expect a favorable vote. We have yet to write our NSJ letter of support to Senator Bennet, but it will be forthcoming.
