Short Description of Activity

Workshop: Noon, Thursday, Aug. 26.Public Hearing: 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 30This Monday, August 30, the PRC will take public comment on PNMs proposed transfer of its 13% share of coal-fired Four CornersPower Plant to Navajo Transitional Energy Corporation (NTEC), a corporation owned by, but not run by, the Navajo Nation. As part of the transfer contract, PNM has agreed to veto any effort by other plant owners to close the plant through December 2024. PNM is also proposing to ask consumers to foot the bill for more than $100 million of investments that a hearing examiner deemed imprudent (but the Commission deferred making a final decision on). NTEC, which owns the coal mine that feeds Four Corners, has said that it wants to keep the plant running until at least 2031 despite the massive health and climate costs. Join us for a workshop beforehand to learn about the issues at hand in this case at noon Thursday, Aug. 26. RSVP here. We will provide information about the positions of the parties and how to find documents filed in the case that you can use to inform your personal comment on this case.

Reflection/Evaluation

Both were informative, but I have to admit, I haven’t attended any of the legislative sessions to comment, which was the purpose of the PNM workshop.
The Outdoors for All will most likely come into play on collaborative efforts to apply for grants in smaller town areas that I have been working on
