Reflection/Evaluation
A good first meeting – getting to know some of the players I didn’t know such as the motorized use reps and good initial conversations focused on why are we here; what vision do we have for ORCA & what might be some priorities. Just the beginning. Also assessed who was missing – about 40 people in attendance from ranchers to electeds to recreation users of all types to business owners. Prior to the meeting, NSJBB reached out to some organizations/individuals that were not on the initial invitation list and two of them attended – ranch manager from RRL Ranch with whom I was able to converse!! (I have invited him to so many events through one of the families that works/lives on the ranch and NEVER has he attended, so his presence was notable & a CPW staffer with whom we work regularly. ORCA would benefit from attendance by BIPOC, equestrians, regional land trust representative and more agricultural producers. NSJBB also spent significant time prior to the meeting collaborating with other wildlife advocates ensuring that we’d attend and voice our concern re: habitat fragmentation.
