Short Description of Activity

Ongoing wildlife advocacy that includes promoting the Planning Trails with Wildlife in Mind handbook, staying informed about CPW State Trails Committee (STC), follow up communication re: CPW 2019 funded COPMOBA/RAT planning grant, providing public comment (via uploaded letter) to STC, attending CPW Commissioners’ meetings, ongoing communication with CPW staff (Area 18 & SW Region) and wildlife advocate partners such as BHA and Defenders of Wildlife as well as coalition conservation partners (especially about regional trail planning)

Reflection/Evaluation

Perhaps the highlight of this quarter was a meeting with new Area 18 Area Wildlife Manager & Terrestrial Biologist. Our first ever meeting was via Zoom and it seemed a bit strained but both staff were enthusiastically friendly collaborative, and sincerely interested in Broads concerns and priorities. Very uplifting… so much so that I rec’d a personal text from the new AWM asking for my recommendation for equestrian trails for her personal recreation!! Craig Grother with BHA continues to be a fabulous ally and mentor (former USFS biologist.) We also have a couple of member leaders taking initiative around wildlife and committing to attending STC and CPW Commissioner meetings. Lovely to have fellow Broads with whom to learn and co-conspire. Felt good about submission of comments to STC though of course you never get any feedback.
